A part of the Morning
Breakfast Club on WALK 97.5 in New York, Cindy keeps so many listeners
entertained. Witty, intelligent, and down right funny, Cindy helps make the
commute and morning a breeze.
Cindy Says:
"Oprah turned 50 last
year... and so did I. We were both happy to reach the
milestone as the women we've found ourselves to be at this point (and, I
have to say, way different than what I thought 50 would be like, which is
just part of the reason we are both celebrating). And
Oprah and I have a lot more in common... we both work.. we're both women...
we both really love the human race.
Okay so maybe we don't have
that much in common... like she's got billions of
dollars and I don't. And she's got someone else
cleaning her house and whipping up dinner... and I don't.
But I have a husband, Bob... and my two girls- Megan who is (I can
barely believe this) turning 29 this year... and Catherine who is 15 on the
verge of 29.
And I don't know- does Oprah
have a dog or two?? I do, Riley and Rosie, but came to
live with me from shelters and both eternally grateful.
But it's me that is the most grateful because the absolute, total,
unconditional love that they give me far surpasses my springing them from a
cage and letting them sleep on the furniture. By the
way, if you come to visit, either bring a lint brush or just don't wear
black.
And how does Oprah feel about
cruising? Has she even ever taken a cruise?
It was falling in love with the experience years ago that led me to
form Gotta Go, a cruise-only travel agency with
my best friend Lain and our friend Flo.
We like to look of it as an opportunity to share the joy.
I head to the office after I get done here at WALK... unless I get
called to do a voiceover (the other big love of my life) for P.C, Richard,
Fortunoff, Dairy Barn... or any number of other companies that let me work
with them. Color me lucky that I have three jobs that
all give me immense satisfaction and happiness...
So what am I doing this year?
Well, last year I honored a life long love by starting bass guitar
lessons. Bought myself a cool,
little Kremer bass and amplifier. But color me
fickle, that bad boy is just hanging on his stand now cause I've moved on to
the piano. Color me restless, color me easily bored...
but at least give me credit for sticking with some sort of musical
instrument.
And for the first time in
forever, I'm growing out my hair. I've had short, short,
short hair (see photo) for most of my adult daughter's life... and I'm sick
of it. So I'm giving it a shot at growing it out, which
is a surprisingly big deal in my life these days.
Mainly because it's sooo difficult to go through the
homely stages. So I'm mostly avoiding mirrors
for now. And the big gamble here is that I have no idea
if I'm going to like it long(er). We'll
see how that goes.
All in all, Oprah and I both
love our lives, what we do and who we are. And for that,
we are grateful for being such fortunate women.
My motto:
Work like you don't need the money. Love like you've never been.
Dance like nobody's watching.
My other motto:
You can't be young forever, but you can be immature indefinitely."
